At Robot Chores, we obviously love our robot helpers and encourage others to do some research on them and see if they are a good fit for their homes. Not everyone will find them necessary or even see a good value when looking at them. I would argue that they definitely can bring value to your home and your life.

Now, I am not going to say that every robotic invention is a winner. We have seen plenty of duds that are just straight gimmick and don’t really live up to their hype.

But, there are plenty of robot devices out there that pull their weight and can make a great addition to your home.

Two of the more popular robot helpers on the market are the robot vacuums and robot lawn mowers. These devices are definitely worth consideration if you are looking to ease your workload around the house.

For this article, we’ll dive into the robot lawn mower a bit more and discuss whether it is right for you.

Here are 10 Reasons You Should Buy A Robot Lawn Mower.

1. Robot Mowers Are Safer

A recent study from John Hopkins researchers found that each year there are an average of 6394 lawn mower related injuries in the United States.

Robot lawn mowers obviously do not require a human to sit atop  them or walk behind them. Clearly they are going to be safer since there really isn’t any contact with the mower while it is running.

And you can’t even flip the device over and be exposed to a spinning blade, because pretty much every model there is comes with anti-tilt sensors. If you do start to lift the mower up, the blades stop spinning right away.

Robot lawn mowers also use much smaller and less powerful mowers and blades, which also leads to more safety.

2. Robot Mowers Are Low Maintenance

Since robot lawn mowers are fairly simply machines, they do not come with a great deal of maintenance and service requirements.

There are no oil changes to worry about, which is a big plus in my book. You also don’t need to worry about having a can of gasoline at the ready at all times.

Really, the only regular maintenance that you’ll need to do is make sure the grass clippings are removed from the blades and wheels. Sure, you’ll need to replace the blades every once-in-a-while, but that is also fairly easy and inexpensive to do.

3. More Space In Your Garage Or Shed

Another great reason to buy a robot lawn mower is for the space savings. The robot mower and its docking station take up very little space in your garage or shed.

Speaking as a homeowner with 3 kids, and way too many ride-on toys and bikes, garage space is at a premium.

And if you need to move things around from time to time, the robot mower is easy to pick up and move to a new location.

4. Cheaper In The Long Run

It is no secret that robot lawn mowers can carry a hefty price tag. This can sometimes scary potential buyers away.

But, you need to consider the cost to own over the lifetime of the robot mower. With very little maintenance or service required, the initial purchase is really all you have to pay. Sure, you’ll need a new battery after several years and the blades will need swapped out here and there, but the cost is minimal.

You save on oil changes, gasoline, and other costly parts and service that come with traditional mowers.

5. A Buried Perimeter Wire Keeps Them In Your Yard

No fence in your yard, no problem. With the majority of the robot mowers on the market you can simply bury a perimeter wire which acts as a burrier to insure that your mower doesn’t leave your yard.

This gives you peace of mind, knowing that your mower isn’t going to start cutting your neighbor’s lawn or wonder off into the street or the sidewalk.

A word of warning – installing the perimeter wire can be a lengthy and time-consuming process. But, once it is installed you never have to worry about it again.

6. They Make Your Neighbors Jealous

I am not suggestion you make consumer purchases based on your own vanity, but your neighbors definitely will take notice of your cool new robot mower.

People definitely take notice and often have questions about the latest edition to your robot family when they see it out mowing the lawn.

They are a cool tool that people often wish they could have but don’t usually pull the trigger on.

7. Save Time For Other Tasks

One of the main benefits of using robots, of any kind, is the time saving aspect that they provide.

By having your robot lawn mower set on a schedule, you save time on having to cut your lawn. Now you can use those hours to work on other things around the house, play with your kids, or to just relax.

8. Robot Mowers Keep Your Lawn Looking Better

In order to get the most out of your robot lawn mower, you want it to mow very frequently. By doing so, your grass is always kept short and neat. This also helps prevent weeds, crab grass, and other annoyances from growing in your yard.

The robot mower also mulches up your lawn clippings which provides quality nutrients for your yard.

9. They Are Easy To Use

The biggest task you’ll face with your new robot mower is installing the parameter wire. I won’t like, this can take some time and be annoying. But, once done, setting up and running your new robotic lawn mower is super easy.

You can easily send your robot mower on his way with a simple touch of button on the actual unit, or you can use the remote or smartphone app.

Scheduling your robot mower is also extremely easy and once you do it, you are set until you decide to change the routine.

10. You Don’t Have To Worry About Them

The latest robot lawn mowers are so intuitive and smart that you really do not have to worry about much.

They have several sensors that keep them on the straight and narrow.

Sensors tell them when there is an upcoming object that they need to maneuver around – whether that be a baseball, your napping dog, or the neighbor kid’s skateboard.

Sensors are also used to tell the robot when it starts to rain. Once rain is detected the robot mower will stop mowing and return to the base station to charge.

Your mower will also detect when the battery is getting low and then make its way back to the docking station for a quick charge.

You can also rest assured that your robot lawn mower is safe from thieves. If someone tries to pick up the mower it will stop mowing. The bad guy will not be able to use the mower after this, because he will not have the PIN number that is required. A lot of units even have built-in GPS, so the police can track a stolen device

There are plenty of reasons to consider getting a new robot lawn mower. I just shared 10 of my top reasons to buy a robot lawn mower. They do come with a steep price tag, so you definitely need to do your research and weigh your options before you make a decision.
