Today we are tackling which Braava robot mop is the best purchase for your home. there are several factors to consider when shopping for a robot mop and we’ll go over them all.

There are also several things that set the different Braava models apart. So let’s get it it and look at the Braava M6 vs 380t vs Jet 240.

Is A Robot Mop Right For My Home?

Robot mops, like the ones from Braava, are designed to autonomously clean your hard flooring surfaces. They work great on hardwood floors, laminates, vinyl, and tile floorings. So, really, anything that isn’t carpet, a robot mop is going to do well at cleaning.

The robot mop uses a wet mopping pad or a dry cloth as it moves around your rooms, leaving your floors nice and clean.

How Do Robot Mops Work?

The cleaning method is pretty much the same for all robot mops, especially the different models from Braava.

The robot mop will spray out a small amount of cleaning solution or water in its path. The robot will then drive over the wet section, reverse back over it, and then go forward over it one last time. So each time it sprays, it makes 3 passes over the wet area to assure the mopping pads can really scrub the area.

After the robot mop has made its way around the selected area it will return to its base station to charge (unless you get the Jet 240).

Which Braava Mop Is Right For You?

each robot mop from Braava comes with a list of benefits. Finding the best one for your home just depends on your needs, the level of technology you want, and, of course, your budget.

Let’s look at some things to consider when you are trying to select the best Braava robot mop for your house.

Easiest To Set Up And Use: Braava Jet 240

braava jet 240

The Jet 240 is the simplest to set up and use when comparing the different Braava robot mops. There is no scheduling to worry about when it comes to the Jet 240. It is as simple as pushing the one button on the robot to make it start and stop. That is really about it for this robot mop.

The Jet 240 has 3 modes:  wet mopping, damp sweeping and dry sweeping. The 240 will determine which mode to use based on the type of cleaning pad you insert. I have only really used the Jet 240 in wet mopping mode, where it makes 3 passes at an area of the floor. It does work rather well, especially for the price of the Jet 240.

Braava Jet 240 PROS

  • Affordable
  • Easy to set up
  • 3 cleaning modes
  • Compact design

Jet 240 CONS

  • Not programmable/No Scheduling
  • No charging station
  • Can’t recharge and continue a job
  • No washable pads. Have to buy disposables
  • Takes a while to clean a large room
  • No smart integration

How Much Does The Jet 240 Cost?

One of the major pros of the Braava Jet 240 is its affordable cost. You can pick up a Jet 240 robot mop for under $200. At the time of this article you could grab one on Amazon for $170.

Should You Buy The Braava Jet 240?

The Braava Jet 240 is a great robot mop for someone that doesn’t need a lot of fancy programming or tech. If you just want to clean your floor now and then at the touch of the button, then the 240 is a great option. It is affordable and does a pretty decent job at keeping your floors clean, if used regularly.

If you want to have more control and features and even set up some schedules then you’ll want to consider the 380t or the M6. You are going to be paying more for those advanced features, naturally.

Best Value: Braava 380t

For those that wish their robot mop was a tad smarter, you may want to move up a model from the Braava 240 to the 380t.

The 380t has improved on its GPS capabilities which leads to a more effective cleaning experience. The robot has also gotten a bit wider, improving the cleaning surface with each pass. Overall the mop looks more modern than its predecessor.

The Braava 380t also comes with a charging station, unlike the Jet 240, which requires you to remove the battery to charge it. For the 380t you can simply place the entire robot mop on the station to charge. It isn’t as nice as the M6, which can dock itself and charge between cleanings, but still a step up from the Jet 240.

Another big different between the 380t and the Jet 240 is how the dispense the water or cleaning solution. While the Jet 240 sprays the liquid out in front of it, the 380t actually soaks the cleaning pad internally as it goes.

I actually prefer the robot mops that spray out the liquid. I like to be able to see if it is working properly, plus I just feel like it cleans better that way. The 380t still doesn’t a solid job on mopping and cleaning though.

Braava 380t PROS

  • Enhanced GPS
  • Charging station (can’t dock and charge itself though)
  • Modern design
  • Good battery life

380t CONS

  • Can’t dock and charge itself
  • Only 2 cleaning modes
  • No smart integration
  • Doesn’t spray the liquid out in front (personal preference for me)

How Much Does The Braava 380t Cost?

The Braava 380t is a decent value coming in at under $300. You can often find one for sale for under $250. This is a solid value for an effective and stylish robot mop like the 380t.

Should You Buy A Braava 380t?

The Braava 380t is a definite step up from the Jet 240. While I do prefer how the 240 sprays the liquid in its path, as opposed to soaking the pad like the 380t does, the 380t does still clean better.

So if are looking for a good value robot mop that looks modern and sleek and does a good job cleaning, then the 380t is a solid option.

If you don’t care as much about how it looks or the advanced GPS, then the Jet 240 is still a better buy for you.

I also prefer the charging method of the 380t over the Jet 240. Although, neither can hold a candle to our next model, the Braava M6.

Best Overall Robot Mop: Braava M6

Braava m6 vs 380t

The Braava M6 is the top of the line robot mop from iRobot. It goes far beyond the capabilities of the Jet 240 and the 380t. One of the best features that the M6 has, that the others do not, is the ability to self-dock, recharge, and then continue where it left off. This ability makes it such a great investment, if you can afford it.

The mapping and GPS of the M6 are very impressive, as is the mobile app that you can use to control the robot mop. The app allows you to setup and name rooms, set virtual barriers, and adjust the amount of water/solution being dispensed.

You have the option of using washable pads or buying disposable ones for your mopping needs. The washable pads are very well made and do not deteriorate over time.

Another awesome capability that comes with the M6 is its ability to work in tantum with other iRobot devices. If you have one of the latest iRobot vacuums, like the i7+, you can link up your Braava M6 with it. The vacuum will clean the debris from your floor, while the M6 follows it and mops as it goes. Very cool!

The M6 goes back to the dispensing ways of the Jet 240, spraying the solution it the mop’s path before taking 3 passes at the section of floor that is being cleaned. Again, I much prefer this method over that of the 380t, which soaks the cleaning pad.

Braava M6 PROS

  • Clean and modern design
  • Advanced mapping and GPS
  • Impressive app
  • Ability to set up rooms and “keep out” zones
  • Easy scheduling
  • Ability to self-dock and recharge
  • Smart integration with Google and Amazon
  • Washable and disposable pads available

M6 CONS

  • Expensive
  • Liquid dispenser can clock from time to time

How Much Does The Braava M6 Cost?

The original Braava M6 runs around $450. At the time of writing this article they were on sale on Amazon for under $400.

Should You Buy The Braava M6?

The Braava M6 is definitely the king of the hill when it comes to the mops offered by iRobot. If you want the latest tech, impressive and easy-to-use app, and awesome mapping, then the M6 is the easy choice.

The price is a bit more than the 380t, but you get so much more with the M6. The ability to have it self-charge and then pick up where it left off, even in the middle of a room, is impressive.

I have used all 3 models, but the M6 is the only robot mop that I currently own. I love it.

If you can spend a little bit more, then the 380t is still a great value at a “budget” price.
