When I would go to visit my grandmother in her nursing home, I always found it interesting to see the number of residents who carried around a baby doll or stuffed animal. My wife, who does physical therapy in those same facilities, told me that this is actually a very common thing to see. The seniors feel close and can even form a bond with a doll or stuff dog or cat.

Another very common sight to see in senior care facilities is the use of companion and service animals. Animals are brought in, from time to time, to lift spirits and bring joy to the residents.

The most common service animals you’ll find in a nursing home is a dog or a miniature pony. But I’ve actually heard of facilities that brought in goats! Now that is fun.

When COVID hit, our seniors were greatly affected and not just because they were highly susceptible to the virus. Our greatest generation was stranded in their facilities, in some cases sequestered to their rooms, with very little to no contact with the outside world. It was awful to see.

Many family members turned to new forms of comfort for their loved ones. While live animals could no longer visit the seniors, the introduction of robotic animals became popular. There are a few options out there, but the most popular are the robot companion pets from Joy For All.

In this article we are going to review the Joy For All robot pets and see if they are a great fit for your parent or grandparent.

What Is A Robot Pet Companion?

Robot pets, like the dogs and cats from Joy For All, are realistic robotic animals that require none of the maintenance or attention of real pets. They are get for seniors or adults that want the companionship of a pet, but don’t have time or maybe aren’t able to care for the real thing.

Joy For All Robot Pet Review

There are a few things to look for when you are considering a robot pet for yourself or a loved one.

Realistic Appearance – does the robot dog or cat look like a real pet?

The Touch – does the robotic pet feel soft and furry like a real life animal?

Care – what kind of maintenance is there to keep the robot pet working properly.

Interaction – does the robot cat or dog interact. Does it take or listen to commands, does it react to touch, etc.

They robot dogs and cat from Joy For All check off most, if not all, of the things I need when looking for a robot pet for my loved ones.

Joy For All Realistic Appearance

The robot dogs and cats from Joy For All both look and feel very realistic. They are modeled after real-life pets to try and make them as real as possible.

The eyebrows and other parts can move to add emotion to facial expressions. This really makes the robot pet seem so much more real.

I will say that think the robot cats do look a little more realistic than the dogs from Joy For All. I think that is simply because they are just covered in more hair, so it is easier to hide any robot-like features.

Do Robot Pets Feel Real?

The fur on the dog models and the cat models both feel extremely authentic. They coats are soft and comforting to pet, just like that of a real pet.

Seniors will enjoy holding the robot pet on their lap and petting it, just like they used to do with their real dog or cat.

Care And Maintenance

One of the reasons that robot companion pets are so popular with seniors is for their low levels of care and maintenance. All you have to do is change the batteries every couple of months. That is really it.

The 1.5 alkaline batteries (4) are included when you purchase the companion pet.

Seniors can brush the hair if they like. This is great for keeping the hair looking real and it also forms a bond with the robot pet. The small motion can also be therapeutic for some elderly owners or aren’t ambulatory.

Interaction

The pets from Joy For All interact with their companions in many ways. Both the dogs and cats move their heads, can raise and lower their eye brows and move their tails. Both robot pets have very realistic heartbeats that you can feel when touching the chest.

The robot dogs will actually bark in response to attention from their owner. The robot cats will even roll over and purr when you pet them on belly.

Final Thoughts On Joy For All Robot Pets

The realistic look, feel and interaction from the robot pets is really something. At first glance, if you see the Joy For All cat sitting on the couch, you will probably think it is real. The pup isn’t as real looking, but still does a great job at imitating a real dog.

If you have a senior in your life who could benefit from daily companionship, then buying then a robot pet is a really good idea. I can’t emphasis just how important it is for our elderly to have that companionship if they are in care facilities. And the Joy For All companion pets are a very good options to consider. There are other robot pets on the market, but the Joy For All pets are designed specifically for seniors.

The Joy For All cats and dogs aren’t that expensive considering how realistic they are. You can pick up any of the models for under $130.
