Robot vacuum cleaners have come along way since iRobot dazzled the consumer industry with the still ever-popular Roomba. Today, we are seeing more and more manufacturers add cool features to try and keep up with, or even best the robot juggernaut.

One of the latest features that everyone is in search of is a robot vacuum with auto empty. Who wouldn’t want someone to not only vacuum for them, but then also empty the dust bin, right?

Robot vacuums have already revolutionized the way that we go about our household chores. With the simple push of a button, you are on your way to cleaning your kitchen floor. Pretty cool.

As advancements continued, we saw advanced scheduling and routine options, which made it even more effortless to keep your floors clean.

The only real flaw with robot vacuums, and running them on schedules, was the fact that their dust bins could only hold so much dirt and debris. Once the dust bin was filled, the robot vacuum could no longer continue to clean your home. And if you were not home to manually empty the dust bin, your robot vacuum was done for the day.

Now we are seeing more and more brands come out with robot vacuums with auto empty features. This is making cleaning your home so much easier.

Let’s move on and take a closer took at the Neabot Robot Vacuum with auto empty.

PROS

  • Auto empty feature
  • Advanced mapping features using LIDAR sensors
  • Very powerful suction
  • Adjustable power levels
  • Long battery life of up to 2 hours
  • Affordable

CONS

  • The app still has some kinks
  • Scheduling can get confusing
  • Still a newcomer, so reliability is always a concern

Neabot’s self-emptying robot vacuum started out on Kickstarter with a target goal of just $20,000. At the time of me writing this article, they currently have over $256,000 worth of backers on the platform! I’d say they found a winner.

Like other robot vacuums that empty themselves, the Neabot has a base station that is not only used for charging, but also for emptying the dust bin.

It works like this…

  1. Neabot’s dust bin gets filled with dirt and debris.
  2. The vacuum pauses its scheduled cleaning and makes its way back to the docking station.
  3. Neabot busts out a 180 degree turn and backs into the docking station.
  4. The dust bin is then emptied into the hopper.
  5. Once the bin is empty, the vacuum heads out to pick up where it left off.
  6. You can now open the hopper and remove the newly filled trash bag for disposal.

How Well Does The Auto Empty Feature Work On The Neabot?

The Neabot uses a high-powered fan to suck the debris out of the vacuum’s dust bin and up into the bagging area of the base station. It works surprisingly well.

Even when vacuuming a floor that had a lot of dog hair on it, the vacuum was able to empty its bin completely with no problems.

However, if you let the dust bin get too full, it may cause problems when trying to empty it into the hopper. If you have a dog or a cats you will want to set up a more frequent schedule to make sure the dust bin doesn’t get to full before you have it emptied.

Cleaning Performance For The Neabot

The Neabot handles multiple surfaces with ease. It works well on hardwood floors, tile, laminates, and low to medium-pile carpets. It should work fine on thicker high-pile carpets, but it may not be the best pick.

Things the Neabot sucked up with ease on hard flooring

  • Cheerios
  • Pet hair
  • Sour Patch Kids
  • Coffee grounds

Things The Neabot sucked up with ease on low-pile carpet

  • Cheerios
  • Pet Hair
  • Coffee Grounds

It took more than one try to get all the Sour Patch Kids picked up on the carpet.

What Can The Neabot App Do?

The app does everything you expect it to do for a robot vacuum, but it could still use some updates. The company is new, so I am sure firmware updates and other improvements will continue to roll out. It is definitely not a poorly made app, it just needs more time and updates.

App Features

  • Room Selector
  • Set up rooms for double pass cleaning
  • Select the suction power
  • Advanced scheduling options
  • Select how often it empties its dust bin
  • View a map of what areas were cleaned and what was missed

Overall the app is fairly intuitive and I only see it getting better as this company gets some more time for development and updates.

The app stands on par with others in the industry. If you aren’t a fan of the app, or still rock a flip phone, the Neabot also comes with a remote control.

Obviously a remote control isn’t going to have all the same options as an app, but it does still allow you to work the main functions of the robot vacuum.

Final Thoughts On The Neabot Robot Vacuum With Auto Empty

If you are in the marketing for a robot vacuum that can empty itself then you should really consider the Neabot.

The navigation and mapping work extremely well. In fact, it works just as well as the Roomba i7.

The actual hopper, or dock, is extremely efficient at sucking up all the dirt and debris. The fan they use is more than adequate, even for good amounts of pet hair.

When you add up the many pros with the fact that this new robot vacuum is under $400, you come out with a bigger winner in my book.

I honestly do not have many gripes about the new Neabot robotic vacuum. My only real reservation would be about the age of the company. They are extremely new to the robot vacuum market, or any marketing really, which can be good or bad. So far they seem to be on top of their game and I hope we see a lot more from them.

If it were my money and I was picking between the new Neabot and the Roomba i7, I honestly think I’d go with the Neabot.
