Having 3 young children in my house, I get asked about pets fairly often. My 3-year-old wants a different pet pretty much every week. Apparently having several fish tanks isn’t that fun when you can’t touch anything!

Luckily, for the time being I am able to keep that at bay with simple excuses. The most common being that we can’t get a new animal because the baby is still crawling around on the floor. But that excuse will surely get old fast with their eager little minds.

Like many parents, I have “toyed” around with the idea of placating those pet-caring ambitions with the introduction of a robotic or toy pet.

In this article I am talking about one such toy, the Zoomer Kitty Interactive Robot Toy. What can the robot do, is it right for your kid’s age, and is it worth the purchase?

Zoomer Kitty PROS

  • Different play modes
  • Interacts with your child through sounds and motions
  • Does several tricks
  • Multiple sensors
  • Interacts with other Zoomer brand toys
  • Pretty cute

There is no questions the fact that the Zoomer Robot Cat is pretty darn cute. But if you are going to spend money on this toy, and it isn’t super cheap, you want more than cuteness, right? So what else does the Zoomer Kitty Toy have to offer?

Music and Sounds – The Zoomer Kitty will play different songs for your child at the touch of the button. The robot cat will also making a purring sound if you rub it on its head, where it has several sensors positioned. This is a great way to get your child to interact and form a bond with this animal and see it as more than a plastic toy.

True Vision Technology – Zoomer Kitty has several sensors that allow it to interact with your child and its surrounds. This technology allows the robotic kitten to cycle through different modes, such as standard mode and play mode. You’ll notice that the toy has switched modes when its eyes change color. Green eyes means it is in standard mode, but blue eyes mean it is in play mode.

Play Mode – When your Zoomer Kitty is in play mode you can interact with it on a whole new level. It will follow its favorite toy around, tricks and just be more interactive and playful with your child.

Interacts With Other Zoomer Pets – If you have any of the other robot pets from Zoomer, like the dog, dinosaur, etc, your Zoomer Kitty will interact and even play with them. It is pretty cool that your child can build a little robot pet family.

Zoomer Kitty’s Got Tricks – Push the button on Zoomer Kitty’s back and watch her do several tricks. Your kid will love seeing the different tricks that their robot cat can perform.

Zoomer Kitty CONS

  • Expensive
  • No Voice Commands
  • Sensors aren’t 100% reliable

The Zoomer Kitty has a lot of cool features and pros, but like any toy, there are some things I wish were better or different.

Price – The Zoomer Kitty, like all Zoomer robot toys, is rather expensive. Currently they are around $400 on amazon, but I have seen that price drop under the $300 mark. Still, that is pretty pricey for a robotic cat toy.

Lacking Voice Commands – Don’t get me wrong, the Zoomer Kitty can still do a lot with the touch of a button, but for the price tag, I would like to see some voice integration.

Sensor Inaccuracy – For the most part, the various sensors on the Zoomer robot cat do a great job. But, from time to time I did notice that it didn’t seem to catch on to the fact that I was trying to play with it. I had to really move the toy around in front of it to get it to switch over to play mode and start interacting more.

Final Thoughts On Zoomer Kitty

The robot cat from Zoomer is a very fun and interactive toy for children around age 5 and up. It definitely has some cool features, like play mood and the various tricks it can perform. Yes, I do wish it had voice command, considering how expensive it can be, but other than that it is pretty good overall.

Obviously the robot kitty toy isn’t going to replace your child’s hopes of a real furry friend, but hopefully it will distract them for a few more months. The Zoomer Kitty does a great job at making your child feel like there is a connection and that it is more than just another toy.

If you can find one on sale for a good price, then I think it is a good buy. At $400, I would do a hard pass and look else where.
